My Trusty Body Butter has won a national Silver award from magazine Pure Beauty just four months after the launch of this exciting new product.
The Body Butter, which was up against some of the leading brands on the market, is a recent addition to the successful My Trusty range, which started with the commercialisation of the sunflower moisturising cream developed by staff at Salisbury District Hospital over twenty five years ago.
The My Trusty range already includes tubes and pump dispensers of the sunflower cream in both unscented and lavender versions and will shortly include an exciting face and body oil. The commercial launch of this range of products is unique within the NHS and profits made from this support NHS patient care.
Carol Read, Innovations Lead for Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust said: “ The award winning My Trusty Body Butter contains skin nourishing sunflower oil and a rich hydrating cream of shea and cocoa butter. Beautifully fragranced with a blend of neroli, bergamot and orange to uplift and energise, it’s a special treat for this time of year.”
Pure Beauty is one of the country’s most popular and successful beauty retail trade magazines and these awards give the beauty industry the opportunity to reward innovation and creativity in this most competitive of industries.
Carol Read said: “Our body butter was up against some of the biggest names in the beauty industry, so this is a remarkable achievement, highlighting the quality and appeal of the My Trusty range of products that we are now developing here at Salisbury District Hospital.”
Notes to editors
- Over twenty five years ago, Salisbury District Hospital developed a moisturising cream for patients recovering from burns and plastic surgery. The product was developed with the assistance of clinical scientists and the hospital pharmacy department and has been popular with patients ever since, many asking to purchase it after their discharge.
The original product is still manufactured at the hospital pharmacy and available for purchase at Salisbury District Hospital. In 2012, we decided it would be great to use our very popular cream to help raise even more funds to further improve patient care. This meant bringing it well and truly into the 21st Century by adding a Lavender twist to the cream, finishing it off with shiny new tubes and, finally, because we know that it works, calling it My Trusty Little Sunflower Cream. Since then the Hospital has developed a number of other products under the My Trusty range.
- None of the My Trusty range of products have been tested on animals, but have been well tested by a large group of staff and other volunteers – our ‘Trusty Volunteers’. Products do not include parabens
