The My Trusty® skincare range has won the Best Over the Counter Product award at the Pharmacist Awards 2016.
This award highlights the innovation and success of an NHS own brand moisturiser, developed by NHS staff at Salisbury District Hospital to improve the quality of newly healing skin.
The Pharmacist Awards recognise and reward the most ambitious forward-thinkers and products. The judges were impressed with the My Trusty® skin care range, which is endorsed by pharmacists and shows the difference a natural product can make on all types of skin.
My Trusty® is a multiple award winning natural NHS skincare brand, developed by leading skincare scientists at Salisbury District Hospital. Dissatisfied with products generally available, research and development results showed this sunflower cream formula resulted in improved appearance and quality of healing skin. High grade sunflower oil was chosen as the primary ingredient because it is rich in linoleic acid that has many beneficial properties for healthy skin.
Peter Hill Chief Executive at Salisbury District Hospital said: “Since its relaunch in 2013 the My Trusty® skincare range has grown from strength to strength winning a number of national awards within the cosmetics industry and proving popular with so many people looking for a good quality alternative brand to the larger cosmetic companies. The products were initially developed by NHS staff in Salisbury for patients and shows what can be achieved by using the innovation, creative thinking and drive of our staff who do so much for our hospital and the local community.”
Steve Bleakley, Chief Pharmacist at Salisbury District Hospital said: ‘Over many years the range has become an essential part of many people’s skin care regime. The sunflower cream formula helps to soothe dry itchy skin and may also be suitable for people who may be prone to eczema or other similar dermatological symptoms. The moisturiser has stood the test of time with its formulation and past and present patients still tell our pharmacy this is the only product that really does improve the quality of their scars.”
Lyndsey Weiss, Salisbury District Hospital patient and user of the My Trusty skin care range said: “After trying dozens of creams to try and alleviate the discomfort of very sore hands and feet, caused by a reaction to chemotherapy drugs, I was recommended by my pharmacist to use My Trusty® unscented sunflower cream. This has made a huge difference to the condition of my skin - the cream absorbs easily and does not leave an oily layer. I really find it soothes and moisturizes far better than any other cream I have tried.”
