Caspar Ridley (44) has a wide experience of both the private and public sector and is currently Director of Strategy and Business Development at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
He began his career with Royal Dutch Shell in 1989 having graduated from Durham University with an Economics degree and an MBA from INSEAD. He worked his way up through a number of senior roles to become Chairman and Managing Director of Shell Gas Italy and then Deputy Vice-President for Policy and Issues for Shell International. He then joined Syngenta, an international agribusiness, as Global Head of Public and Government Affairs.
He joined University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust in 2008, where he has played a pivotal role in all strategic issues relating to the Trust’s future direction and success. In his current role he has been involved in the development of services, financial planning and is the focal point for PCTs and GPs where he leads on commissioning issues. He was also a key player in the team that guided the Trust to Foundation Trust status.
Caspar Ridley said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Chief Executive at the Trust and look forward to working with all of the staff and our partners. Clearly these are challenging times for all NHS organisations, but Salisbury has a very good reputation for good, safe, high quality and efficient care and I will be looking to build on those strengths as we take the Trust forward in the future.”

Caspar is married with three children, two of whom were born in Salisbury. He lives in Winchester.
