He began his career as a nurse and worked in NHS hospitals in Essex, Newcastle and London before coming to Salisbury in 1986. In Salisbury he progressed through a number of senior nursing and managerial roles and, having completed a Masters in Business Administration, became a Director for the Trust. He has subsequently held several different director level posts, most recently as Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive. He has been Interim Chief Executive since September 2012.
Peter Hill said: “I am honoured to be appointed Chief Executive. Clearly the NHS is facing a period of real challenge across the country, but the hospital has an excellent reputation, high quality staff and unprecedented support from our local community. It’s essential that we continue to maintain our high standards and I’m proud and pleased to be given the opportunity to lead the organisation as we move forward in the future.”
Luke March, Chairman of Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust said: “Peter was an outstanding candidate for the post and I’m delighted that we have now secured his services in a substantive position following a rigorous selection process. Peter has considerable NHS experience and knowledge of the organisation. I’m confident that we will continue to improve services for our patients and develop further under Peter’s leadership.”
