Staff win customer care awards for friendliness and devotion to patients 

Spinal unit staff nurse Storm Luikel has been rewarded for her excellent care and devotion to patients when she won the individual award for Customer Care at a special ceremony at Salisbury District Hospital.

Staff in the Day Surgery Unit won the team award for their friendliness and the efficient way they look after people coming in for treatment.


Nominations for the Customer Care Awards came from patients, visitors and staff and focused on the way in which staff have dealt with other people. In particular, whether they were friendly and welcoming or who had gone that extra mile to help others.


Matthew Kershaw, Chief Executive of Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust said: "We recognise the importance of good customer care in enhancing the care we give to patients and it was pleasing to see the number of nominations we had and the affection and respect that  people have for our staff. "


"Cleary many of our staff have made a real impression on other people.  I would like to congratulate the winners and to thank the many teams and individual members of staff  who have done that little bit extra for their patients or colleagues."


The full list of winners and runners up are as follows:

  • Individual Winner: Storm Luikel (Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre), Runner Up: Carol Blake (Sarum Ward), Third Place: Sue Royston (Laser Centre).
  • Team Winner: Day Surgery Unit, Runner Up: Hedgerows Coffee Shop , Third Place: Ophthalmology - Eye Clinic.
