Peter is supporting the appeal as a thank you to staff at Salisbury District Hospital who are treating a friend of his for cancer.
Peter will start his fundraising challenge on June 16 with the South Downs Marathon - a hilly, trail-based marathon that starts in the picturesque town of Arundel in West Sussex. Over the following months Peter will be running two local marathons - the city based Salisbury 54321 and the Salisbury to Winchester Clarendon Way - as well as taking on marathon challenges in Nottingham, Leicester, Luton and Dartmoor.
And joining Peter on some of the runs will be his father Anthony who is a police officer for the Wiltshire constabulary.
Peter said: "I have always wanted to take on a challenge like this and help raise funds for a good cause. A friend of mine is being treated for cancer at Salisbury District Hospital at the moment, so it seemed an obvious choice to run for the Stars Appeal and give something to the hospital that will help benefit cancer patients."
The Stars Appeal is an ongoing appeal with individual campaigns and fundraising efforts conducted under the umbrella of the Stars Appeal logo. The first two are the Little Lives Campaign and the Keyhole Cancer Campaign. The Little Lives Campaign aims to raise £100,000 for new state-of-the-art equipment that will help newborn babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The Keyhole Cancer Campaign is looking to raise £300,000 to equip a dedicated keyhole cancer operating theatre.
