Three new Non Executive Directors to start at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust 

Managing Director Dr Lydia Brown, former Deputy Chief Constable Stephen Long and BT Director Major General John Stokoe CB CBE,  join Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust as Non Executive Directors on November 1.

 

 

 
 

Dr Lydia Brown started her career in general veterinary practice. She has a specific interest in fish farming and was awarded her PhD in aquatic veterinary medicine. This experience took her into a range of roles and responsibilities within the industry. Lydia has had several board positions with related charities, and was President of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons between 1998 and 1999. She is now Managing Director of Pharmaq, the UK subsidiary of a Norwegian parent aquaculture business. Lydia lives in West Gomeldon in Wiltshire.

 

Stephen Long has been in the police service for 30 years,  having worked his way up through the ranks to become area Commander in Suffolk, then Assistant Chief Constable of Wiltshire,  before becoming Deputy Chief Constable of Wiltshire. He has been the national lead for Science and Technology and, for the last seven years, Diversity Champion for the Wiltshire Constabulary.  During his 30 years experience, he has built up considerable knowledge and experience in dealing with major incidents. Major General John Stokoe was a senior army officer up until 1999, managing change programmes and creating and implementing army wide policy in the Ministry of Defence, before taking up a command role with 100,000 soldiers worldwide. He then became Managing Director of a business unit in Amey Support Services and joined Lend Lease Corporation as Director of Corporate Affairs and Marketing for the U.K, Europe and the Middle East in 2003. He became Director of Defence and Security with the BT Group in 2006. John lives in Ashmore in Dorset.

 

Other current non executive members of the Trust Board are Luke March (Chairman), Ian Davies, Barry Bull, Ronald Burrows and Nigel Atkinson. Ruth Blacklock retires from the Trust Board  on 31 October 2008.

 

Luke March, Chairman of Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust said: “ We are continually  improving services for our patients so it’s important that we have a wide range of skills and knowledge to take us forward.
