Rockbourne Fair organisers give their support to Stars Appeal

Organisers of the Rockbourne Fair have pledged their support for the Salisbury District Hospital Stars Appeal by making the Appeal a major beneficiary of their three-day event in the Bibury Suite at  the Salisbury Racecourse starting on October 17.

The Rockbourne Fair is celebrating its 19th year and over the years has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for local charities and worthwhile causes.

Jennie Sherborne MBE, Chairman of the Rockbourne Fair, said: “The Rockbourne Fair enables people from far and wide to enjoy the 88 exciting stands in comfort and make light of their Christmas shopping. Forty-percent of the stalls are new – there is a fabulous food hall and, for those who like to indulge in a little retail therapy, there is no place like it.  A key attraction at this popular indoor event will be late night shopping on Thursday the 18th , entrance £3 after 4pm.”

“Each year the Rockbourne Fair receives many requests for help, and we go to a great deal of trouble in choosing the most needy. Following the Stars Appeal launch at Wilton House, we decided we would like to give them our support. It is so good to know that this will be an ongoing Appeal dedicated to improving equipment and facilities at Salisbury District Hospital. ”

The Stars Appeal is an ongoing appeal with individual campaigns raising funds for state-of-the-art equipment and new facilities. Although the first two are raising money for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a dedicated Keyhole Cancer Theatre, local people can continue to raise money for their chosen ward, unit or department as part of the ongoing appeal. The Rockbourne Fair is supporting the Little Lives Campaign element of the Appeal.

Other beneficiaries this year will include Leukaemia Busters, Honey Pot, Philip Green Memorial School, Trussell Trust, Salisbury Spinal Injuries Trust and Face the Future (Salisbury & Poole).

Hannah Paye, Stars Appeal Coordinator said: “Over the years the Rockbourne Fair has attracted people from across the region and raised thousands of pounds for local charities. We are very grateful to the organisers for choosing the Stars Appeal as a beneficiary and wish them well for a successful and enjoyable event.”
