The team from Sainsbury’s lifted the trophy after three rounds and beating teams from Revive Vending, Wilton Carpets, 4Com, Friends Provident, George & Dragon, Naish Felts, 5 Rivers, Atlas Tree Care and the Stars Appeal’s own Striking Stars team.
Katie Ray from Wisewalk said: “ We were thrilled that so many teams came along and had such fun whilst supporting such a worthy cause. We would like to thank Reeve the Baker for supplying food for the hungry participants and also the Bursar at Godolphin School for allowing us the use of their equipment and grounds. The tournament will be back next year even bigger so keep an eye out for details.”
The Caring 4 Kids campaign, which was launched earlier this year as part of the ongoing Stars Appeal, aims to fund state-of-the-art facilities and equipment for a new children’s centre at Salisbury District Hospital. The new centre will, for the first time in Salisbury, offer highly advanced children's facilities and medical expertise in a single location. Over 6,000 local children will be treated there each year.
The new centre will cost £4 million in total, with the Caring 4 Kids Campaign covering the cost of extra facilities and equipment. These include parents’ accommodation, dedicated long stay rooms for children with serious illnesses, indoor and outdoor play areas and a multi sensory room for children with disabilities. The Caring 4 Kids Campaign will also fund high-tec equipment for diagnosis and treatment.
Hannah Paye, Fundraising Co-ordinator for the Stars Appeal said: “We are delighted that Wisewalk Resources choose the Stars Appeal to benefit from their fundraising. Our team had a great time and it was fantastic to see Salisbury businesses getting behind the Caring 4 Kids campaign.” Ends
Notes to Editor
The Stars Appeal raises money to create the best possible experience for the 300,000 people who rely on Salisbury District Hospital. It funds extra care and equipment over and above that provided by the NHS. The Appeal benefits all wards and departments. It also raises money for major projects. In 2007, thanks to the generous support of the local community, the Appeal funded advanced equipment for premature and critically ill babies and an advanced keyhole cancer surgery suite.
The Stars Appeal now faces its biggest challenge to date. The Caring 4 Kids campaign is raising £1million to help create a state-of-the-art children’s centre at the Hospital which will treat over 6,000 children each year. The Caring 4 Kids campaign will fund a range of state-of-the-art facilities and equipment within the centre including parents’ accommodation, dedicated long stay rooms for children with serious illnesses, indoor and outdoor play areas and a multi sensory room for children with disabilities. The Caring 4 Kids Campaign will also fund high-tec equipment for diagnosis and treatment.
