Dave Cates, Director of Fundraising at Salisbury District Hospital said: “These are really exciting times for us with so many people wanting to be a part of a successful fundraising campaign. As well as the hundreds of people who are out there raising money for the hospital, we are very lucky to have over 40 loyal and committed volunteers who help us on the Stars Appeal. Now with the success of the appeal, we need more.”
Volunteers are needed to occasionally help with street and supermarket collections in and around the Salisbury area. A recent collection at the Wilton House Concert raised over £1,000, and a number of other collections are now planned.
The appeal organisers are looking to increase the number of collection boxes in pubs and shops Volunteers with their own transport are needed several days a month to collect full boxes and find sites for new ones. People with ebay experience could help where, in some cases, donated items such as mobiles and ink cartridges can be sold.
And others can support the appeal by helping promote fundraising events by placing posters in pubs, shops and public notice boards.
Mr Cates said: “ There are real opportunities for people who want to give up a small amount of their time and in the process do their bit for the Stars Appeal. This is an ongoing appeal with individual campaigns raising funds for state-of-the-art equipment and new facilities. Although the first two are raising money for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a dedicated Keyhole Cancer Theatre, local people can continue to raise money for their chosen ward, unit or department as part of the ongoing appeal.“
Mr Cates added “ If you or someone you know can help please contact the Hannah Paye on 01722 429005.” ENDS
