The Trust Board is the statutory authority, which sets the overall strategy for the Trust and monitors performance. From the 1st November 2008 the Trust has eight Non-Executive Directors, including the Chairman, and six Executive Directors. Non-Executive Directors bring an independent view to the decision making process of the Board.

Luke March

Luke March - Chairman

Biography:

  • Chairman of the Trust Board
  • Chairman of Finance Committee
  • Chairman of the Remuneration Committee

Luke March was appointed Chairman of the Trust in January 2005. He has been a non-executive director in the NHS since 1988, first in Winchester and later in East London. He is also Compliance Director of the Royal Mail Group having formerly been Chief Executive of the Mortgage Board. He lives in Great Durnford near Salisbury.

Matthew Kershaw - Chief Executive

Biography:

Matthew Kershaw joined the Trust on 1 August 2008. He has over 16 years NHS experience having worked his way up through a number of roles within the NHS in London, Berkshire, Surrey and Sussex. He has led two national initiatives with the Department of Health and was Chief Operating Officer at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Trust before joining the Trust.

Malcolm Cassells - Director of Finance and Procurement

Biography:

Malcolm Cassells is a qualified accountant with extensive financial experience gained through nearly 30 years in the NHS. He held senior financial positions at Regional Health Authority and District Health Authority level, before joining the Trust in 1986 as Director of Finance. He lives in South Wiltshire.

Alan Denton - Director of Human Resources

Biography:

Alan Denton has over 16 years NHS experience having worked throughout this period at senior  management level in the field of Human Resources. He joined the Trust in 1988 having previously worked in the mechanical engineering and construction industries and lives in Bournemouth in Dorset.

Peter Hill - Director of Operations

Peter Hill - Director of Operations

Biography:

Peter Hill has a nursing background and before coming to the Trust in 1986 worked on wards and intensive care units in London and Newcastle. He has an MBA in business administration and has extensive senior management experience. He lives in Salisbury.

Tracey Nutter - Director of Nursing

Biography:

Tracey Nutter joined the Trust in April 2003 from Southampton University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust where she was Associate Nurse Director. She has over 20 years NHS experience having worked her way up to key nursing posts in Newcastle, London and Southampton. She lives in Poole in Dorset.

Sean O'Kelly - Medical Director

Sean O'Kelly- Medical Director

Biography:

Sean O'Kelly joined the Trust in September 2009. He has over 20 years NHS experience in anaesthesia and intensive care. He has extensive managerial and clinical experience in Britain and America and also a Masters degree in Strategic Management from the University of Bristol. Before joining the Trust Sean worked at the Department of Health and was Associate Medical Director at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.

Nigel Atkinson is a retired corporate financier and a former Head of Listing at the London Stock Exchange with some 30 years experience of corporate finance. Mr Atkinson was appointed on 1 February 2007 and lives in Cholderton.

Dr. Lydia Brown

Dr. Lydia Brown - Non-Executive Director

Biography:

Lydia Brown is a qualified vet and former President of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. She has considerable business experience and is now a Managing Director within a Norwegian aquaculture business. Lydia lives in West Gomeldon in Wiltshire.

Barry Bull has experience of private industry having worked his way up to director level within the Unilever group. He currently works for a charity that supports older people and lives in Verwood in Dorset.

Ian Downie

Ian Downie - Non-Executive Director

Biography:

Ian Downie has considerable management experience having started his career with Westland PLC in 1974. He moved to ML Aviaton in 1984 as Finance Director and then became Managing Director. He is currently Strategic Development Director at Serco group.

 


Stephen Long - Non-Executive Director

Biography:

  • Member of the Remuneration Committee

Stephen retired as Deputy Chief Constable of Wiltshire after 30 years service. He was a diversity champion within the constabulary and a national lead for Science and Technology. Stephen lives in Wilton in Wiltshire.

Biography:

Michele Romaine is a former director of production for the BBC who has considerable experience as an advisor within the Media industry. As Director of Production Modernisation, she was instrumental in implementing changes for the introduction of digital services and now has her own media consultancy.

Major General John Stokoe CB CBE - Non-Executive Director

Biography:

  • Member of the Finance Committee
  • Member of the Remuneration Committee

Major General John Stokoe CB CBE was a senior army officer who commanded 100,000 soldiers worldwide. He has considerable board level experience and is currently Director of Defence and Security with the BT Group. John lives in Ashmore in Dorset.
