The Trust Structure

Our Organisational Structure

Salisbury District Hospital is managed by Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust and, as a Foundation Trust, reports to NHS Improvement, the Independent Regulator. Information about the Regulator can be found on its website .

The general range of services provided by the hospital is mainly commissioned by Wiltshire, West Hampshire and Dorset Clinical Commissioning Groups, although other neighbouring Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) will commission our services from time to time.

The Trust is also a specialist regional centre for plastic surgery, burns, cleft lip and palate and genetics and provides a specialist service for people across much of southern England who have a spinal cord injury. The Trust has around 470 beds.

Each year managers from Salisbury District Hospital and the CCGs review the number of people the hospital is expected to treat during the year and agree the amount of money CCGs will pay the Trust to provide this level of treatment.

There have been a number of changes to the structure of the NHS and how NHS care is regulated and monitored. Please click on the following link for more details. How we fit into the NHS structure.

Trust Board and Trust Management Committee

The work of the Trust Board is partly undertaken by a number of sub committees with specific responsibility for certain aspects of the Trust's business. These are:

  • Audit Committee
  • Clinical Governance Committee
  • Finance and Performance Committee
  • Strategy Committee
  • Workforce Committee
  • Remuneration Committee

The Board is additionally supported by

  • Staff Appeals Committee
  • Clinical Excellence Awards

Their Terms of Reference are set out in Appendix C of the Trust's Standing Orders which can be found in the section How We Make Decisions

The Trust Management Committee is made up of the six Executive Directors together with Clinical Directors and other senior staff. The Trust Management Committee has overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the hospital and meets monthly, but the public are not able to attend.

Foundation Trusts are mutual organisations, where local people, patients and staff can become members and governors and hold the Trust to account through the Council of Governors. The Council of Governors provides a link between patients and the public and the Trust Board and is made up of elected public and staff governors, and governors appointed by the Trust from other organisations.

Organisation Structure

The organisation structure chart shows how the work of the Trust is divided between clinical and operational duties and how these various activities are managed.
