Your Appointment

If you are attending any of our clinics, please do not pass urine/wee/pee for 2 hours before. This is for two reasons:

  1. Our chlamydia and gonorrhoea tests require you to have not passed urine for 2 hours. This allows the infection to be picked up on the swabs. If you do urinate/wee/pee within two hours of the swabs being taken, the test result may be inaccurate.
  2. We may require a urine sample from you.

Be Prepared

We will ask you personal information during your visit. Females may be asked when their last period was and what contraception they use. All patients may be asked when they last had sex, whether condoms were used and what medications they are taking. Please think about this information before attending so that you can offer this information to the doctor/nurse during your visit.

Our walk-in clinics can be very busy and our appointment clinics can sometimes over run. Please be prepared for either of these.

We have both male and female doctors and nurses working within the department. If you would specifically like to be seen by a male or female member of staff then we recommend that you ring to book an appointment and inform the receptionist so that you are booked in with the correct member of staff. Being able to see a male/female doctor or nurse cannot be guaranteed at our walk-in clinics.
