Request Summary: Urinary tract infection rates in hospitals

Question Number 1: Urinary tract infection rates over the past year,

Answer To Question 1: In the period Nov-20 to Oct-21 there were 1,198 UTIs coded against patient admissions.

Question Number 2: Hospital acquired urinary tract infections v community acquired urinary tract infections.

Answer To Question 2: Of these UTIs, 22 have been coded as Hospital Acquired UTIs.

Question Number 3: If there were more male or females with urinary tract infections

Answer To Question 3: There were more female UTIs, at approximately 54% of total.

Question Number 4: If people that had urinary tract infections had a catheter or not.

Answer To Question 4: Clinical Coding would only code a Catheter Insertion if the patient had a UTI and Urinary Retention. They wouldn't code for a Catheter Insertion for a UTI alone. The total for the former is less than 5 patients in the period.
