Symptoms and Diagnosis

The Eve Appeal have produced this poster that shows the signs and symptoms to look out for.

Most common symptoms  

  • Itching or soreness of vulva, that does not go away 
  • A lump or swelling on the vulva 
  • Bleeding or blood-stained discharge that is not related to periods 
  • A sore or ulcerated area on the vulva 
  • Raised and thickened patches of skin that can be red, white or dark 
  • A burning pain when peeing 
  • A mole on the vulva that changes shape or colour 

The Doctor will need to examine your vulval skin & vagina in clinic. They may need to take a small punch biopsy of this skin.
