Getting here by car or motorcycle

Directions by Car

From the north or east, join the Churchill Way ring road and follow the signs for the District Hospital.

From the west on the A30/A36 turn right at Park Wall junction, Wilton onto the A3094 to avoid going through Salisbury and follow the signs for the District Hospital.

From the south follow the A338 towards Salisbury, pass the park and ride on your left and take the next left at the traffic lights and left at the top of the hill.

Entrances to the hospital are marked 'A' and 'B' and the car parks are numbered and clearly signposted for patient/visitor parking. Your appointment information will tell you which car park is closest to your ward/clinic.

Getting here by bus

From Salisbury City Centre

Salisbury Reds city bus service 'Red 1' runs frequently from the city centre to the hospital. The bus leaves from Stop O in Blue Boar Row on the north side of the market square. The journey takes around 10 minutes. Buses run in an anti-clockwise direction around the hospital site stopping in the following places:

The Green (for the Central and South parts of the hospital)
Springs Entrance (for Level 2 of the main hospital)
Main Entrance (for Levels 3 and 4 of the main hospital)

From Shaftesbury

The no. 29 bus stops at the hospital.

From Woodfalls

The no. 44 bus stops at the hospital.

Other bus routes terminate at the City Centre where you can change onto the R1 or the 29 or the 44 to get to the Hospital. To plan your journey, select public transport on Google maps or use the Wiltshire Council journey planner.

Getting here by bicycle

There is a shared cycle path along Odstock Road and plenty of cycle parking dotted around the site - click here for a map displaying cycle parking. There is a pump and tool station on The Green. For cycle routes around Salisbury, a new Low Traffic Routes map was created by COGS in 2025. Beyond Salisbury, look at Connecting Wiltshire. Salisbury is served by the following train routes:

South West Trains from London Waterloo, Basingstoke and Andover
South West Trains from Exeter and Yeovil
South West Trains from Southampton and Southampton Airport
First Great Western from Portsmouth and Southampton
First Great Western from Cardiff, Bristol and Bath

Salisbury Reds bus service 'Red 1' which serves the hospital, stops in Fisherton Street, a few minutes walk from the railway station.

Help with Transport

- Link Schemes are volunteer-led services that offer door-to-door transport in return for a donation. For more information, visit Wiltshire Link Scheme or search the internet for Community Transport for other counties.

- Patients on certain benefits may be entitled to help with transport costs. Application forms are available from out-patient clinics, wards or PALS.

- Non-Emergency Patient Transport is for patients who, due to their mobility or medical condition, are unable to travel safely by other means. Eligibility is assessed by your GP.
