Celebrating 75 Years of the NHS at Salisbury Cathedral

11 May 2023
Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust and Salisbury Cathedral are holding a special service to mark the 75th anniversary of the NHS and 80 years since the US Army opened a hospital in Odstock. The service, which starts at 5:30pm on Monday 26th June, is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and join health and care staff to celebrate this significant milestone of our National Health Service, which was founded on 5th July in 1948. This ecumenical service is open to all communities in South Wiltshire, North and East Dorset and South West Hampshire and warm welcome will be given to all faiths and those with none. Visitors no longer required to wear face masks

04 May 2023
From Thursday 4th May 2023, visitors to Salisbury District Hospital are once again no longer required to wear face masks, unless it is their personal preference to do so. These changes have been made in line with national guidance on the mandated use of face masks in healthcare settings and reducing numbers of COVID-19 positive cases. However, to continue to protect those who are most vulnerable and at high-risk, they ask that the wearing of face masks continues where immuno-compromised patients are treated. Please read more for full details.

New Ward for Salisbury District Hospital

30 January 2023
A new state-of-the-art inpatient ward is under construction at Salisbury District Hospital, helping to reduce waiting times for elective surgery. Providing 24 additional beds, it will be an environmentally sustainable building that our clinical teams have been heavily involved in designing. Demolition of existing buildings began in March with construction of the main building planned for May. Access to all other buildings will remain unchanged throughout the ward construction. Projects updates will be given during this time. Pictured above is an artist's impression of the new building.

Statement from Salisbury District Hospital on Royal College of Nursing Industrial Action

16 January 2023
During the upcoming industrial action on 18th and 19th January by the Royal College of Nursing, Salisbury District Hospital will be operating a Bank Holiday level service. The focus of the hospital during the two days of strike action is to maintain safe and compassionate patient care. Our Accident & Emergency Department will be fully functional and we will have safe staffing levels for all inpatients. However, many of our outpatient clinics and planned surgery may be unable to go ahead as planned. Patients impacted will be contacted directly by the hospital. If you are not contacted directly we would ask you to attend as planned. The hospital has been working closely with the Royal College of Nursing to ensure our wards are safely staffed and that critical services are maintained. We would ask anyone that attends the hospital during the two days of industrial action to please be aware that staff will be stretched by the industrial action and to be prepared to wait a little longer or have appointments delayed. Here is a message from CEO Stacey Hunter on the RCN strike: https://youtu.be/n6ZNfrvDyyw
