To mark National Poetry Day (07 October 2021) Salisbury Hospital has released new posters as part of its COVID-19 reflections projects.
Two new poems 'Mask' and 'Isolation and Kindness' are now displayed across the hospital site.
'Mask' looks at the difficulty connecting with patients while wearing a mask and 'Isolation and Kindness' is the experience of Dr Kate Jenkins who was one of the hospitals early COVID-19 patients and was treated by her colleagues.
These are in addition to previously displayed poems 'My Name is Mercy' based on the work of the hospital Intensive Care team and 'Nightshift' that explores the feeling of other worldliness that some nightshift staff can feel.
The works are all written by Martin Figura who has been the hospitals poet in residence capturing the emotions and feelings of staff as they managed the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Reflections project has only been made possible due to generous and kind support from both the League of Friends and Stars Appeal.
