Bank Holiday Weekend Heat Alert

A Amber Heat-Health Alert has been issued for the bank holiday weekend across neighbouring regions, and we’re encouraging everyone in our community to take simple steps to stay safe. As the UKHSA notes, “anyone can become unwell when the weather is hot”, but older people, young children, and those with long‑term conditions are at higher risk. Keeping cool indoors, drinking plenty of fluids, and avoiding the hottest part of the day can make a real difference.

If you’re heading out, remember to stay in the shade where possible, use SPF 30+ sunscreen with UVA protection, and look out for signs of heat exhaustion such as dizziness, weakness or intense thirst. Temperatures indoors can be higher than temperatures outdoors, so please check in on neighbours, friends or relatives who may struggle to keep cool.
