Choosing the right service can help you get advice and treatment as quickly as possible. Whether you have a minor illness, need treatment for an injury, or aren't sure where to go, there are a range of services available to make sure you receive the right care, at the right place, at the right time.
Your local pharmacy is often the best place to start when you have a common health condition. Pharmacists can provide expert advice and treatment for a range of common conditions and can tell you if you need further medical support.
The Minor Injuries Unit in Andover/Blandford/Shaftesbury/Wimborne/Frome provides treatment for a range of injuries that don’t require emergency care, including minor head injuries, facial and eye injuries, foreign body removal, fractures, bites, minor burns, and wound assessment and closure.
For non-urgent health concerns, ongoing conditions, prescriptions and routine medical care, contact your GP practice using your usual appointment booking methods.
If you need treatment for a minor illness or injury when your GP practice is closed, the Salisbury Walk-In Centre can help. The Walk-In Centre is open on weekdays 6:30pm – 10:00pm and on weekends 8:00am – 8:00pm, and no appointment is required.
If you're not sure which service is right for you, NHS 111 can help. You can use NHS 111 online or call 111 to receive advice and be directed to the most appropriate service for your needs.
A&E is for serious or life-threatening illnesses and injuries that need immediate emergency care.
Choosing the right service helps you receive the care you need as quickly as possible and ensures you are seen by the healthcare professionals best placed to treat your condition.
