Positive Image, Motivation and Support (PIMS)

The Positive Image, Motivation and Support (PIMS) 'in pregnancy' service was set up in 2016, commissioned by Wiltshire Council, and provides additional support to women living in Wiltshire to help them live healthy lives, make healthy choices & reduce inequalities. The PIMS service supports smokers who are receiving antenatal care as Salisbury Maternity Unit.

We are led by Specialist Midwife Bea Longthorp and a small group of specialist health advisors, which include Natalie Hughes & Ness Whitehouse.

If you feel you'd like some impartial, judgment free advice about your pregnancy, please feel free to talk to your community midwife who can refer you to our services. Alternatively, you can contact us directly by emailing

Our staff at Salisbury District Hospital have long been well regarded for the quality of care and treatment they provide for our patients and for their innovation, commitment and professionalism. This has been recognised in a wide range of achievements and it is reflected in our award of NHS Foundation Trust status. This is afforded to hospitals that provide the highest standards of care.
