Do you have a waste management software in place in your NHS Board currently?

If so, which software are you using?
 
Answer To Question 1:
No
 
Question Number 2:
How do you ensure compliance is followed in regard to storing Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes?
 
Answer To Question 2:
Hazardous waste Notes are reviewed and filed as received and kept in a monthly folder for the year in question. Our Pre-Acceptance Auditor checks annually a random number for correctness. Our DGSA also checks quarterly.

How do you store Waste Transfer Notes?
 
Answer To Question 3:
Waste Transfer Note’s are filed as received, if hard copy filed on a folder, if soft copy kept in a monthly folder for the year in question
 
Question Number 4:
What reporting, if any, do you produce based on data from Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes or Waste Transfer Notes?
 
Answer To Question 4:
Our Clinical Waste Contractor provides Quarterly Hazardous Waste Reports in e-copies which are filed by year under Contractor. Their monthly summary report is the one we use for reporting tonnage and cost against EWC code / Clinical Waste Type. Our non clinical waste contractor includes Hazardous waste metrics in their monthly dashboard report and I use this together with other waste stream data to populate my Facilities monthly report to Forum.

How many hours a month are spent on: Storing/Organising Waste related documents, reporting on information contained in Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes/Waste Transfer Notes
 
Answer To Question 5:
Approx 10 hours across Administrator & Senior Manager.

On average, how many Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes per month do you receive?
 
Answer To Question 6:
The Trust receive an average of 60 HWCN’s for clinical waste and a further 6 approx related to other Hazardous Waste per calendar month

On average, how many Waste Transfer Notes do you receive per month?
 
Answer To Question 7:
About 6 per month
 
Question Number 8:
What processes are in place to verify waste contractors are providing the correct documentation and operating with correct permits?
 
Answer To Question 8:
Duty of Care Visits Annually. Pre-Acceptance Audits Annually. Weekly monitoring by Senior Manager. Quarterly check by DGSA.

What is your waste audit process?

Pre Acceptance Audits annually; daily waste store inspections by Team Leader; ad hoc waste store inspections by senior manager; Waste Consultant Quarterly Checks
