Local Antenatal Classes, Websites & Apps

Parenting Preparation Classes (2024 dates)

We would like to invite you to attend our preparation for parenting classes that are facilitated by the midwifery team. These informal sessions are currently accessed online via the app ‘Microsoft Teams’ which you can download for free. If you can use a device with a good size screen, you may find the sessions more beneficial and enjoyable as we do play videos, show pictures and use props! Please also feel free to access some short videos around labour and birth at BSW Together - Hello Baby Antenatal

We strongly encourage you and your birth partner to attend both sessions. As they are virtual, you could also be accompanied by anyone who is significant in your life who will be there to support you and your birth partner such as other family members. These sessions are meant to reinforce any prior information you may have already accessed, allow you to ask questions in a safe and supportive environment and to empower you to be able to make informed decisions regarding your labour and birth choices and experiences.

As this is part of your antenatal care you are entitled to paid leave to attend these sessions. It is hoped that we may soon be able to run these sessions face-to-face again soon.

There are two sessions per month on Tuesday mornings (dates below) from 10:00am – 12:30pm. The first session covers topics such as 1st and 2nd stages of labour, pain relief options and birth. The second session discusses the 3rd stage of labour, induction of labour, the immediate post natal period, infant feeding, coping strategies, emotional wellbeing and going home with your baby – including how life may change and your expectations of being new parents.
