| Question Number 1: I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I am undertaking a service evaluation examining policies relating to enhanced observation in acute hospitals in England. Clarifications to support processing: • This request only relates to acute/general hospital settings • Please provide one current policy only (the most recent version in use) • If your organisation does not hold a specific policy, please confirm this • No patient-level or staff-level data is requested. Please provide the following: A copy of your Trust’s current policy (or equivalent document) relating to enhanced observation of adult inpatients. This may be titled differently locally, for example: o Enhanced Therapeutic Observation and Care (ETOC) o Enhanced observation o Specialling o One-to-one (1:1) care o Constant or close observation | |
| Answer To Question 1: The Trust have attached the “Therapeutic Enhanced Supervision SOP & Action cards 1-8”. This was updated in January 2024, and has a review due date of January 2027. This is being reviewed as part of the NHSE Enhanced Therapeutic Observational Care Collaborative (ETOC cohort 3) work currently being done (we are part of NHSE collaborative for ETOC so this is being supported by them and we need to ensure our new policy incorporates all best practice so need to get it right hence taking the time to ensure final draft is as good as can be).
